The Reader (Me), The Protagonist (Her) And Their After Volume 1 Afterword

Based on the files information, I started to write this novel in… 2010 around autumn. It’s already been 7 years, huh.

Hello, this is Masaki Saginomiya.

By the way, I lied a little. The date is for the prototype version of this story. Well, the characters and the events happening didn’t really change, so you can say they’re basically the same…

I applied to the 18th Dengeki Contest with this work but didn’t manage to get past the preliminary, so to actually be able to publish it now after making my debut feels a little weird…

Looking back at the old manuscript’s quality, it’s no wonder it failed though…

A big difference in the old version is that the heroine was named Chiyoda Momose. Back then I had a “Chiyoda Momose Boom” and named all my heroines Chiyoda Momose. Then it finally ended when I won a prize during the 19th contest with “Disappointed Love Detective Momose”.

Thinking about it, this work is a pretty important one to me, I guess. Being the first one in the “Momose Series”. People who read the Disappointed Love Detective series must have noticed the similarities between Hiiragi and Momose.

Anyway, I decided to make this work in a different way than usual.

The theme was: Write something I’d like to read.

Of course, it was the case for every work I wrote. But usually I’d check what’s trending in the market and take advice from my editor and create something while keeping them in mind.

But this time, I totally ignored them.

I just did what I wanted. The reason Hiten became the illustrator was also because I really wanted to have them do the illustrations.

And so, how was it? Did you enjoy it? If you did, that make us comrades!

To conclude, thank you very much for reading!

I hope I’ll be able to see you all again in my next work!
